Visitor's GuideThis Holy PlaceA Lenten Meditationby the late George C. Williams,March 28, 2006 This Holy Place is located in northern Pennsylvania. It includes the environs of Wellsboro, a location surrounded by the hills of the lower Appalachian mountain chain. The Boro itself is divided by three small streams— Kelsey Creek to the south, Morris Creek from the south, and Charleston Creek from the south. These all flow to the north and join to make Marsh Creek, which flows north and then south to Pine Creek in Ansonia. The area includes Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon south and west of Wellsboro. These streams provided a waterway for early Indian tribes located in and through This Holy Place. These ample water resources, throughout the centuries, have provided the liquid resources that supported life, food, and transportation in and through this area of the globe— This Holy Place. And here in St. Paul's beautiful church, we celebrate our heritage in This Holy Place. It is here— surrounded by our hills— that This Holy Place has sustained the worshippers who, generation after generation, have enjoyed the love of the Holy Spirit and found their life in This Holy Place. This Holy Place, that has been a place of worship for generations of our citizens, continues to provide a Holy Place for families of Episcopalians who worship in this wonderful spot. As I participate in Holy Communion here at St. Paul's, I see at our altar the long line of priests who have led our congregations through the past centuries— so that today, This Holy Place continues its very important role in our lives, our community, and our world. God has provided This Holy Place for us— may its life and history protect and provide you with God's love in This Holy Place. Amen.
