The Wellsboro Food Pantry area was abuzz this morning as members of Wellsboro Scouts BSA Troop 24B (boys) and 24G (girls) and Cub Scout Pack 32 arrived with food collected from local residents in the annual Scouting for Food project. In addition to collecting the array of nonperishable food, the Scouts and their parents weighed, counted, and sorted the donated items. The tentative tally shows that the three Scout groups collected 1,099 nonperishable items totaling 589.82 pounds. There also was $45 in cash contributions for the pantry.The food pantry is at the United Methodist Church in Wellsboro. The three Scout units are chartered by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Wellsboro.
